This is my favorite lasagna recipe! It's from my Better Homes & Gardens Cookbook with some of my personal touches.
1 pound ground beef
1/2 of a white onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 small can of diced tomatoes
1 can of Hunt's four cheese pasta sauce (so tasty and so cheap, only 84 cents)
1 Tbs. of Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
9 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained (use less noodles for less layers)
1 egg, beaten
16 oz. cottage cheese
1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
2 cups mozzarella cheese
Saute onion and garlic in skillet briefly before adding beef. Brown thoroughly. Add tomatoes, pasta sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to meat. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Combine egg, cottage cheese, and parmesan cheese in a small bowl. Spread a small amount of sauce on bottom of a 9x13 pan. Add the first layer of noodles and layer with sauce, cheese mixture, mozzarella cheese, and noodles. Cover with foil and bake at 375 for 35 minutes. Enjoy!
